Farm Themed Train Set for Kids

Such an exciting track expansion pack. The barn is the big draw here. It’s such a unique and fun piece. The bridge is super cool too. All the accessories from the tractor to the cow- all super fun. The train engine is battery powered and my son just loves it! Such good imagination pieces with this set and you can do so much with it, especially added on to tracks you may already have. This is fully compatible with most any other wood track name brand/off brand you have. We have Brio and quite a few off brand sets and this fits right in.

I really love this little train set. I had a similar style set when I was growing up and it was great to find one to give to my kids. The main train works better than I expected and pulls all the carts with ease, in all honesty I was not expecting this to be motorized and was very pleasantly surprised with how this worked. All of the track pieces are very durable and the track is fairly easy to build as long as you stick to a general shape. This would be my only criticism I wish it gave more versatility to build different shaped tracks but even I was having trouble make more then 2 or 3 different designs but I guess this is the companies way to encourage buying expansion sets. All in all a good little play train set and my kids have truly enjoyed playing with it.

Very cute farm themed train set. Comes very nicely packaged in a box. Great for a gift for a child that enjoys building and trains. The only thing I did not like about it was that two of the track pieces are plastic and the farm house itself is mostly plastic. The animals and other accessories are all wooden. But if you do want a completely wooden set, this does have some plastic pieces. That being said, they all appear really well made and it does go well together. So if that doesn't bother you this will be a perfect set. I don't think a kid would notice the difference.

This is an adorable little train and farm set. It's very well constructed of wood and is quite sturdy. It includes the track, a train with two cars, and a truck, all of which couple together magnetically. The track runs over a bridge and through the barn. The locomotive is powered by an AAA battery (not included) and will pull the train around the track. The set includes a farmer, several farm animals, trees, bales of hay, and two sections of fence. The bales of hay are magnetic and can be hoisted up into the haymow of the barn with a "hook" and pulley. Assembly is simple. (The barn, for some reason, has female connectors at both ends of the track that runs through it, so you can't completely hook the track together if you include the barn section, but it stays together well enough, or you can set the barn to the side and the track hooks together just fine.) Some parts of this set are small enough to pose a choking hazard, so it's not suitable for small babies. I'm impressed with this little train set, and our little granddaughter will love it.

Alle Teile machen einen guten Eindruck, ich finde es nur Schade, dass doch recht viel aus Plastik anbei ist. Die Lok und der Traktor können selbstständig auf den Schienen fahren, dazu einfach eine batteriefach einlegen. Dieses ist mit einer kleinen Schraube verschließbar. Die Batterien sind nicht Bestandteil der Lieferung. Die Anhänger lassen sich sowohl an der Lok und am Traktor mittels Magnete befestigen. Schienen und Fahrzeuge sind mit anderen Holzschienen kompatibel. An der Scheune kann die Lok und der Traktor samt Anhänger anhalten und diese mit den Klötzen mittels Magnetes aufladen. Dafür ist die Schnur der Scheune ebenfalls mit einem Magneten ausgestattet. Diese hängt an einen Schiebesystem. Anders als in der Beschreibung angegeben lässt sich das Dach nicht öffnen, dafür aber das weiße Scheunentor. Das komplette Set ist farbenfroh und sehr schön gestaltet. Den Kids macht das Spielen Spaß. Als Erwachsener muss ich doch einen Stern abziehen, da für meine Begriffe zu viel aus Plastik anbei ist.

My 2 1/2 year old LOVES this train set. But if you set it up like the picture shows, the track curves are too tight to have all 3 cars attached the engine... the train derails!

I’m so happy I bought this. It has everything and everything is great quality. The train pieces go under the bridge, so no problems there. No problems connecting all the wooden pieces on carpet. It’s awesome.

We have a few different sets of wooden train tracks, so we wanted these to be compatible with all of those, and they are! We love farm themed things, but did have one for the trains yet. The barn and bridge pieces are plastic, which isn’t my favorite, but it’s good quality otherwise. The little rope that slides out on the barn and picks up the magnetic block pieces is a really fun touch! They also had more fun with the trees and animals than I expected. Our five and eight year olds have had a great time with this!

Yes, this is compatible with Brio and Thomas wooden train tracks - of which we have many in our home.

Pros:
* farm theme is fun - animals / scenery are all wooden cutouts with stickers on them. The dog, farmer, and farmer's pitch fork are all plastic.
* farmer is articulated, can change from sitting to standing and arms move.
* different ways to set up the track - depends on whether you want to use the barn as a tunnel or as a crane.
* curved tracks have grooves on both sides - important if integrating with other train sets
* the barn crane feature works well to pick up items from the train cars.
* the battery powered engine is nice. It goes along at a good speed (not too fast) and the rear wheels are rubberized to get up hills. The on/off button is on the top of the train for easy access. It had no problem running on our extensive wooden train set.
* the box is nice quality and I appeciated that it is large enough to get all of the pieces back in for storage without needing everything in an exact position for the box to close.

cons:
* when barn is in tunnel mode, the tractor with the farmer will not fit through it and if any animals are in the back of the train cars, they will not fit through either.
* one of the crane boxes in the set I received did not have the metal thumbtack pounded in - I had to get a hammer and do it myself
* if you don't have a tiny phillips-head screwdriver, you will probably have trouble opening the battery compartment on the engine.
* AAA battery not included

This is a nice set to introduce kids to the world of wooden trains or if you are looking to expand your current set at an affordable price.
